Poker is a card game played by two or more players against the dealer. The aim of the game is to make a winning hand using your own 2 cards and the 5 community cards on the table. The player who has the highest ranked poker hand wins the round and all the money in the pot.

When the cards are dealt each player has a choice to check, call or raise. If they feel their hand has value and don’t want to fold then they will call. They can also raise if they believe their opponent is weak and they think they have a good chance of winning.
The betting cycle is then repeated until all the players have called or there are no more players to call. Once all players have called then the final betting phase is a showdown. The player with the best 5 poker hand wins the round and all the money that was put down as buy-ins.

It will also prevent you from chasing losses and depositing more than you can afford to lose.

After the first betting cycle is completed the dealer will deal three cards face up on the table. These are known as community cards and everyone can use them to form a poker hand. There is then another betting cycle that starts with the player to the left of the dealer.
If there are still players in the hand then the dealer will deal one more card face up on the board. This is known as the turn. Once again there is another betting cycle and the player to the left of the dealer acts first.
Once the final betting phase has finished players take turns revealing their poker hands. The player with the best 5 poker hand then wins the round and all the money in the poker pot. There are occasionally ties where more than one player has the same hand and in these cases the poker pot is shared amongst those players. In the rare event that there is no one with a winning hand then the dealer will win the pot.
